About the Event
As a British Nordic Walking instructor you will benefit from learning how to teach the original INWA programme – the 10 Step Method. This is a proven and effective way to teach people to Nordic Walk and to continue to progress and improve their technique and fitness.
The Northern Ireland Training Course will be held in Annalong on 20th and 21st May 2022.
Taught over two days the course covers:
- Teaching Nordic Walking using the INWA 10 Step Method.
- Using drills to improve technique and problem solve technique issues.
- Teaching safely in an outdoor environment.
- Planning great classes, interesting routes and fun sessions.
- Getting started – setting up new Nordic Walking groups and classes, how to market your Nordic Walking and be successful
The course uses video cameras to film your own technique to accelerate your learning of the 10 Step Method of Nordic Walking and to develop your observational skills.
The whole course is packed full of information and hugely enjoyable.
What do you need to know and do before joining the course?
We highly recommend that you have experienced Nordic Walking before coming on the course. Find a local instructor on the Learn to Nordic Walk section of this site – all our instructors are listed here.
You do not have to be a fitness instructor to teach Nordic Walking, however if you would also like to gain a fitness qualification alongside your Nordic Walking Instructor training then you may want to consider our YMCA Level 2 Certificate in Fitness Walking
*This Includes full INWA colour manual, assessment, certification, your first year’s annual accreditation, worth £55, which covers both British Nordic Walking and INWA.
We make no further charges for our Accredited Instructors and you are free to operate as an independent instructor with no obligation to pay commission or any other fees to us in respect of your income. Of course, we hope you continue to be involved with British Nordic Walking and make the most of the opportunities that accreditation includes. You will be invited to renew your Instructor Accreditation after your first year and, at this point, we will ask you to maintain your standing as a British Nordic Walking instructor through a flexible programme of Continuing Professional Development.
We do not provide lunch or refreshments but at every venue there is the option of buying these on site or nearby. Alternatively, you are welcome to bring your own.
We will advise on a range or accommodation options for those who need to make an overnight stay as part of your course joining instructions.
We will provide all course paperwork, manuals and Nordic Walking poles. You are welcome to bring your own poles if you prefer. If you would like to borrow poles, please ensure that you have given the office your height on the booking form.
You will need to bring appropriate outdoor clothing and footwear (trainers or walking shoes are preferable to walking boots). We will spend a good few hours a day outdoors, whatever the weather, so make sure you bring full waterproofs/sun cream, etc.
